Updates and Info for The Dance Place
October is a busy month with lots of classes at The Dance Place. If you haven't done so yet, you should check out our schedule at www.the-dance-place.com.
A terrific class for beginners is our 7pm Friday "First Steps" class that teaches the fundamental count and hold for each dance along with a few of the basic steps. We teach the basic footwork, how to lead or follow the steps, and only a few steps in each dance. This allows the beginning student to concentrate more on just dancing instead of remembering a lot of step patterns in each dance.
Another great class is the 7pm Friday "Second Steps" class that adds to the knowledge gained in the First Steps class. Participants in this class will learn more advanced patterns and will increase their knowledge of how to lead and follow, as well as some more advanced timings.
From 8-10pm every Friday, The Dance Place hosts a practice party where people can mix and mingle and practice what they've learned during lessons. You don't have to be a student at The Dance Place to attend this practice session - it's open to everyone for a $5 admission fee.
On December 18, The Dance Place will present its 26th Annual Holiday Showcase. This show has been a Houston Tradition since December of 1985 and has grown into a "must attend" event. With Student & Teacher, Student & Student and Teacher & Teacher routines, we always present a nicely varied show. You'll see Ballroom, Country Western, Latin and other types of dancing in this show, so mark your calendars. For details about participating in or attending the show, contact Phillip Stephens (713-248-2299 | philtex44@aol.com) or Michael Schedler (832-721-3968 | mgs122156@sbcglobal.com)
Correction: In the Wk 2 Review - Dancing With The Stars article sent out on 10/1/2010, Simon Cowell was incorrectly listed as Simon Fuller. We apologize for the error and will do our best to be error free in future.
