December 20 started out as a cool evening, but things quickly heated up at The Dance Place. So many people came to watch the show that we were delayed somewhat in getting started while waiting for everyone to find parking spots, get in and get settled. Over 190 people attended this annual event, and all of them expressed high opinions of the variety in the show, as well as being impressed by costumes, music, performances, and the overall atmosphere of the studio.

Michael Schedler, Yvonne Kubicek, Rosendo Fumero and several other folk helped decorate and set up for the show. Michael really outdid himself this year with a snowman, a santa, a sleigh and reindeer, beautiful wreaths and glowingly lit Christmas trees. He also installed additional lighting to add to the overall visual impact of the performers' costumes and performances.

We had three full acts that seemed to just whiz by. There were several new performers in the show, and they all did a superb job. Some folk, such as Richard and Maxine Wilson, had not performed in a show for quite some time, but they, too, gave wonderful performances. We were especially pleased to have veteran competition dancers like June Chou and Jonathan Chang in the show, and it was also a delight to watch June Chou perform two fantastic routines with Rosendo Fumero.

One highlight of the evening was knowing that the International Tango presented by Gloria Zegarrundo was the first "show" number performed in the US by her teacher, Guennadi Iakounine.

Of course, all of our "regular" performers keep coming up with fantastic new routines. Carole Pasternack & Tony Carbonell get very creative with choreography. Rabih Timani always presents his students in very interesting routines. Yvonne Kubicek & Michael Schedler performed two beautiful numbers, and Sharon Shelton Pease did a superb job with a rather intricate Quickstep.

Marina Kislyuk and Ryan Lewis graced us with three excellent routines from their International Latin competition repertoire. And, though she had to rush right off to dance in another show, Olga Rodionova presented two excellent routines with student Minh Tu.

All too soon, the show was over. It just went so smoothly, keeping up a good variety and pace, that it seemed as if no time had elapsed at all, but here we were at the end of the final number!

The Dance Place wants to thank everyone for participating in or attending the show. But we also want to thank all the folk who helped us decorate before, then clean up and un-decorate afterward. You folk are the greatest!
