Season 11, Week 10, Dancing With The Stars Results Show
Hmmmm . The opening ensemble was interesting, but it was easy to see why the Hoff, Ms Cho and The Situation were removed so early in the season.
Ms Agulara’s outfit certainly wasn’t flattering to her figure. Was she GOING for a pear shape? The song was nice and the group was energetic but, unless Christine is “preggers” and has an excuse for lookin’ that way in that thar outfit, she ought ta not wear it in public.
Kyle and Lacey – Tango repeat
For me, this started off as a frenzied “jerk-about” that showed all of Kyle’s worst qualities in Ballroom dancing. Not pleased with this at all and think it should be 3rd.
Len – An exciting dancer to watch? Bruno – A talented young man who knows how to connect with the audience. (I agree with that); Carrie Ann – Glad he chose the Tango? (She found Len’s new bottle, she did!) 9+8+9 = 26
Final Cha-Cha-Cha: I always thought black was slimming, so what’s up with Lacey’s outfit? She looked bigger than Kyle! He is still posing more than dancing and still has too little Latin action.
Bristol and Mark – Tango repeat
Her head position and overall frame is improved. Her feet got a bit wild a time or two, and I didn’t care for her flippy-floppy hair, but it was a good job and I’d place it 2nd out of the three repeats.
Bruno – A clean dancer whose performance level began to improve with the Tango; Carrie Ann – This dance showcased her increased command of her dance skills and performance; Len – Len took the long way around to say nothing substantive. (I bet he’s missing that bottle.) 8+9+8 = 25. Well, not the way I’d score it, but I don’t have that bottle they’ve been sippin’ from.
Final Cha Cha Cha: The red fringe was not a terribly good choice for Bristol, and Cha-Cha isn’t her best dance, but it was certainly more Cha-Cha-authentic than Kyle’s rendition of this dance.
Jennifer and Derek – Viennese Waltz repeat
She seemed to try too hard and made some stumbles that she was quite capable of avoiding. This was not as relaxed as it should have been, so lacked the fluidity needed to make it a really smashing repeat.
Carrie Ann – The magic was there? (I’m tellin’ ya, she’s found that bottle); Len – too effusive; Bruno – too effusive. (They’ve all been suckin’ down the sauce is what I think.) 10+10+10 = 30
Final Cha-Cha-Cha: She certainly looked relaxed in this routine and made some good lines. Derek let her dance instead of proving how good he is at spins and quick leaps and floor poses.
I could have been forever spared listening to Hasselhoff singing, and his dancing was still painful to watch although those gals did a good job of camouflaging his lack of skill.
Side by side, it was easy to see that Rick Fox is a better dancer than Kurt Warner, but it was fun to watch their sportsmanlike “battle”.
Margaret Cho should have kept taking lots of lessons after being removed from the show but she still managed to do a reasonably good job. Florence Henderson looked good in the yellow outfit and did quite a fair job with the Samba.
In the “memorable moments” vignette, I was struck by how much crying and whining went on during the season. I was also distressed about all the “bleeps” that were needed this season. Since I want children and parents and grandparents to enjoy this show, I regret that these people fail to monitor their language. Yeah, it gets bleeped. And Barbara Bower once told me if you know those words, you shouldn’t be offended and if you don’t know those words, you can’t be offended. Still, I think the best way to not be offended by that sort of language is to know it isn’t being used in a show that will be seen by an audience of varying ages and sensibilities. And just why do the producers put those bits in the final product???
OK, they finally realized that The Situation can lift better than he can dance and they utilized that strong point to good advantage.
Maks and Brandy did a sterling job on their Quickstep repeat. I do appreciate that Maks stayed fully clothed during most of this season. He really does look nice in clothing and there isn’t a compelling reason to disrobe on national television featuring the elegance of Ballroom dancing, so I’d like to thank him for his efforts in this area.
I sure hope they caught and killed that rat that got into Christine Agulara’s hair. Don’t these people own hairbrushes? They had time to slap all that bright red lipstick on her, so why didn’t they run a brush through that unruly mop at the same time?
All three gals in pants for the Cha-Cha-Cha final, and none of them looked all that good in them. The judges were extremely effusive about the three finalists which is perhaps understandable at this point but which also just sounded so prearranged.
And the winner is: Jennifer Gray partnered with Derek Hough. I believe Jennifer is the oldest contestant to win that coveted Mirror Ball, and I think this is the first time a pro has won the title 3 times. Way to go Derek!
That's a wrap for Season 11 of Dancing With The Stars. I'm sure we'll see Season 12 starting around March of 2011, so stay tuned for more Ballroom Dance Floor Drama!
