It's Christmas Time! (Almost)

Christmas is Fast Approaching

The days seem to whiz by faster and faster and each event seems to get here quicker and quicker and everyone seems to be racing to keep up with that fast train that the days and weeks have boarded without giving us plain ol' people fair notice about! Which is my way of saying that I am far behind on the big event called Christmas. (And I'm pretty sure I have LOTS of company in this area of life!)

Around The Dance Place, our main focus from mid-October through the Saturday before Christmas is our annual holiday show. Just about everything else gets put off until after that super fantastic evening when loads of amateur couples, students with teachers and some of the finest professional couples to be found step onto our dance floor to present some very entertaining routines.

Holiday Show Update
This year, our 27th Annual Holiday Show will take place on Saturday, December 17 - just 9 short days from now (Yikes!). The show will start at 7pm. The doors will open for general seating at 6:30pm. There will be 3 acts with 2 intermissions that will feature general dancing. The show will end at around 10pm, after which we invite all attendees to partake of our "after show buffet".

We have done our best to limit the total number of routines in this year's show. But we've been hard pressed to do that, and have ended up with 52 numbers on the list. We have several "new-to-our-show" performers this year, and the routines I've seen people practicing are really great so we know you will enjoy them. In addition to all of the super performances presented by our teachers and students, we are also happy to say that the top US Senior I Division Amateur Latin couple, Irsan and Cami Tisnaboodi will be performing for us. We're also delighted that top ranked Professional Country Western dancers Shelley James and Chad Guidry will be strutting their stuff for your viewing pleasure. We know you will be thrilled and mesmerized as a couple that is ranked among the top 24 competing professionals in the world perform some of their breath-taking choreography for our enjoyment. This is none other than Craig Shaw and Evgenia Sutyaginskaya, and you do NOT want to miss this opportunity to watch this couple perform!

Reservations
We are very near our seating capacity. If you want a seat for the December 17 show at The Dance Place, you should get in touch with Phillip (713-248-2299 / philtex44@aol.com) or Michael (832-721-3968 / mgs122156@sbcglobal.net) right away. After the seats are gone, we will start selling "Standing Room Only" tickets. Do keep in mind that, even if you have standing room tickets, some people will be away from their seats during each act because they are performing and you may "borrow" their seat for a few minutes to rest the legs.

A Super Big Thanks!
We want to thank some super special people who gave up some of their valuable time to get the studio decorated for us. Everybody's time is so valuable, especially at this time of year, that we just can't say how much we appreciate what these folk have done for us. Phyllis Baker, Sharon Shelton Pease and Donna Fraley decorated the Christmas trees, lobby and our display window on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Phyllis also wrapped all the nifty boxes under the tree in the lobby, and she and Sharon "tweak" the decorations a bit each time they come into the studio. Last weekend, Yvonne Kubicek helped Michael get the lights and garlands around the mirrors. And, of course, "Mother Patsy" (Michael's mom, Patsy Schedler), put out all her Christmas decorations and put her "special" tree up in the kitchen area. The place looks great and we just can't really tell everyone how much their kindness means to us. Thanks, thanks and more thanks to all of them.

Phillip's Foot
Right after the show, on Monday, December 19, Phillip Stephens will undergo toe joint replacement surgery and will be out of commission for at least 6 weeks. The foot and toe have been causing him increasingly more pain and trouble, and the doctor wanted to perform the surgery way back in September. But, with the show coming up, Phillip decided to postpone the surgery until afterward. Because of a hectic schedule of teaching and because walking - i.e. SHOPPING - just plain old HURTS, Phillip is behind on just about everything not related to the show. I do apologize for that and hope you all will forgive me if I'm late with "things" this year. Love you all and appreciate your consideration and support during this bothersome period in my teaching schedule.

Happy Dancing
and remember
