Cooler Temps in Houston???
It has been so hot and dry in Texas this year that we've nearly forgotten what rain looks like, so we were all staring out the windows yesterday as rain pelted down. Who would ever have thought that something as simple as rain could cause such excitement? And the temperatures! It's dropped below 90 degrees for highs several times lately, which has prompted many Houstonians to hunt for jackets and coats! We are all looking forward to a bit of cooler weather and a LOT more rain, so let's all keep our fingers crossed that the rain-bringing fronts keep heading our way.
Samba Line Dance
Rehearsals for our Samba Line Dance will start this coming Wednesday, October 5th. We'll rehearse at 8pm every Wednesday in October. In November, we only rehearse on the 9th, 16th and 30th, then on the first 2 Wednesdays in December. This is going to be a super fun routine to learn, so don't be shy about showing up for rehearsal this next week. Just be sure that you can commit whole-heartedly and that you will be able to perform this routine in the show on Saturday, December 17. We do reserve the right to limit the number of people in the routine to a manageable number, and we also reserve the right to select participants that can keep up with the group at a fairly quick pace. On the other hand, you should have a blast learning this routine. No partners needed and lots of movin' & grovin'.
Classes
All our classes will be starting up again this coming week, so be sure and pick out your favorite class and register online or in person.
Parties
We have a great crowd of people who come in every Friday evening to dance with friends and enjoy our super music. Come on in and join them. No need to "hang out" in a bar somewhere hoping to get a dance. You'll find that everyone at The Dance Place makes you welcome and it's a great way to practice your steps in a familiar and safe-feeling environment. The dance runs from 8-10pm every Friday = see you there!
Christmas Show
As stated in previous e-newsletters, we are limiting the total number of routines that can be performed in our show this year. Several people have already reserved their spots, and we are at about the halfway point. If you think you'd like to be in this show, reserve a spot now. You can always release it later and we'll let someone on the waiting list have it if that occurs. On the other hand, you might not be able to get a spot if you wait too long. The show will be on Saturday, December 17. It will start at 7:00pm and run until around 10:00pm. We'll serve a light buffet when it's all over and we can all enjoy some relaxed down-time to congratulate ourselves on a job well done.
