Dancing With The Stars - Season 11
While some dance "purists" have lost interest in Dancing With The Stars (DWTS) due to its over-the-top reality show nature, the show is still extremely popular with people around the world. In the USA, several million people sit down to watch the show every Monday that it airs. Those same millions also watch the entertaining and drama-filled elimination program airing each Tuesday during the DWTS "season".
While there are things about the show that most of us, including this author, would change, it is, on the whole, a great way for people to get a glimpse of the "glitz and glitter" of the Ballroom and Latin Dance World. Some of the judging is a bit odd at times. For a Hollywood "production", some of the costumes are a bit lacking now and then. Heck, some of them are downright "missing" with the guys parading around without shirts and the gals sometimes in "almost" skirts. And Phillip Stephens certainly does his best to point this out to the commentary readers and to the "stars" that show up on stage in tasteless or unflattering outfits.
The "stars" this season are sort of hit and miss, but we'll see how they develop. Florence Henderson is a very popular personality, so will probably remain on the show for several episodes even if she can't dance. While they always pick celebs from sports, get a singer or two on there, and pop in some models and actors, it seems at times that they are really scraping the bottom of the barrel. After all, what celebrity status does Crystal Palin have in her own right? She's a former Governor's daughter who ended up being an unwed teenage mother. Should we celebrate THAT?
Well, as always, I will view the show and tender my commentary to people all across the country who may or may not want to read what I have to say. If you don't want to read it, there's always the "delete" button waiting for a quick click.
Happy Dancing, and remember:
