There are hundreds of dance competitions in the US each year. Some of them involve 1 or 2 dances such as Salsa and/or Hustle, Whip, Mambo, Argentine Tango and the like. Others incorporate a huge variety of Ballroom and Latin dances.

Some events are local, some are regional and others are national. Contestants can win a variety of titles to add to their budding or established "dance accolades" by participating in these events.

Naturally, the "big guns" go for every title they can get, and the top prize is often considered being a US or National Champion, which creates eligibility for entering World Championships in the same style of dance.

In between US/National and World titles lies a very Prestigious and Coveted Championship Title: The North American DanceSport Championships.

This event takes place in the United States during even years, and is hosted in Canada during odd years. The uniqueness of this event stems from a variety of factors: Unlike a US/National Title which is valid in just one country, titles gained at this event span the ENTIRE North American continent. In addition, contestants can gain an International title without having to pre-qualify for entry by having won the US/National title for their country of residence.

But one thing makes the attainable titles at this event even more appealing to many competitors: They are available to Pro/Am students.

Traditionally, all other International and World Titles have only been available to Professional or Amateur couples, not the Pro/Am student. This is an amazing opportunity for Pro/Am competitors. Especially since the National Dance Council of America plans to sponsor a World Pro/Am Championship in 2005.

However: Competitors can't just decide they want to participate in that World Pro/Am Championships. No, just like going for any other World Title, all contestants must PRE-QUALIFY by participating in a pre-set number of events.

The North American DanceSport Championships presented in the US by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, has been designated as one of a select group of qualifying events for the 2005 World Pro/Am Championships. Another unique aspect of the North American is that it will allow Pro/Am contestants an opportunity to "test their mettle" against competitors from several countries BEFORE the World Pro/Am Championships.

Another terrific aspect of the North American DanceSport Championships is that our Open Championships are qualifying events for the Super Bowl Team Match held at the Ohio Star Ball each November.

So don't miss out on this unique opportunity! The North American DanceSport Championships will take place at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center in Cherry Hill, NJ, during the weekend of July 9 - 11, 2004.
