On the Way for May & June
Emerald Ball:
Before starting in on the schedule for May, we want to wish all the folk heading out to California for the Emerald Ball all the best of luck! That is one of the biggest competitions in the country and winning prizes there is quite an achievement, so we want to wish all of you success in your efforts to bring home the gold.
Argentine Tango:
We also remind everyone that the well-known Argentine Tango performer and teacher Tomas Howlin will be conducting workshops at The Dance Place April 29-30 & May 1. Classes will take place in Ballroom B. A workshop on Expression and Meaning in Tango will be held from 8:30-9:45pm on Friday, April 29. On Saturday, Aprkl 30, the 2pm workshop will cover The Turning Wheel (finding turns in any position and the 3:30pm class will be on Traspie applied to Tango, Vals and Milonga. There will be a 15-minute Q&A session at 4:45pm after the classes. On Sunday, May 1, the 1pm class will cover Creating Freedom in Close Embrace, the 2:30pm class will cover Off Axis Moves for a Close Embrace, and there will be a Q&A session at 3:45pm. Creative Dance Camp:
Verneal Morin will be conducting dance camps for youngsters at The Dance Place in June & July. 3-5 years will meet from 9am-1pm the week of June 6-9, 6-8 years will meet from 9am-1pm the week of June 13-16 and the 4-6 years will meet from 9am-1pm the week of July 18-21. There will be "Dance Intensives" for 9-13 years the week of June 20-23 and for 14 & up the week of June 27-30. Tuition for any of these courses is $240 per student. Make Swing Sing:
Join Phillip Stephens at 8pm on Wednesdays beginning May 4th and learn how to make your Swing "Sing" with new life. Learn how to transform some of the steps you already know into something that looks totally different by using different counts or by turning more or less or adding new endings and exits.
